IT was interesting how the councillors reacted to the community police teams working in the Cowdenbeath area.

The teams do a good job and are always very friendly people.

I remember being at the Splash for Cash event at Lochore Meadows Country Park at the start of the year and to see the two police guys going into the loch with the punters in their uniforms was really unbelievable.

They were just part of the event and they seemed to merge in perfectly with what was going on.

Everyone seemed to be really delighted with the way they entered into the spirit of things and from what someone told me all the guys involved in the community teams are delighted to take part in events.

The only real problem is the lack of them. I noticed in the paper that there are six community officers for the entire Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly, Benarty, Cardenden and Kelty area.

That would seem to be a bit thin on the ground. I was speaking to someone recently who said that there were six in each ward a few years back.

The lack of police people is bound to have an effect on what can be tackled.

It would seem that the arrival of Police Scotland saw numbers reduced and it had to cause problems on the street.

We have heard so much in the paper about Cowdenbeath's War Memorial being regularly vandalised.

I suppose that has not been helped by there not being enough troops.

But then this area will not be the only one to have problems.

Maybe something Police Scotland should be looking at.
