HAS anyone noticed how the cost of fuel has been rising.

By the end of last week some petrol stations had reached the £1.30 per litre mark.

It has been a really strange situation the way it has been rising.

I can remember about seven or eight years ago how it reached £1.30 and it brought widespread complaints.

This time the total has steadily risen without hardly a whimper from the major organisations who were on top of the issue before.

Petrol is dear enough but diesel has gone way over £1.30 and seems set to continue to rise.

I hope that the motoring organisations make a point of asking how and why this is happening for it would seem that £1.40 for a litre of ordinary unleaded is not that far away.

Now they may say that it is the work of market forces but I often think that the oil companies are able to make things happen to suit themselves.

The consumers are the people who have to fork out and the thing is that if the hauliers are faced with these rises then prices of goods will go up.

Make no mistake the way things are going by mid summer we will be well over £1.30 and there seems no way that it is going to some down quickly.

Kelty.
