SO the dye is cast Cowdenbeath FC has two massive games to ensure that stay in the Scottish Football League.

Really this is a desperate situation. Last season the team managed to win the Pyramid Play-off against East Kilbride but here we are again exactly in the same position.

Facing either Spartans or Cove Rangers the Blue Brazil face a massive challenge, but unlike last year when Gary Locke had a team which had racked up 35 points in League 2, we are in danger of going into the play-offs with only 20 odd points won during the season.

That is simply not encouraging. Yes since February Cowden have looked much more competitive but still they lack regular goals and that could be the undoing in the play-offs.

Yes Cove or Spartans will not have been playing at the same level as Cowden and that has to be a big plus but the problem is that if our team does not take their chances in these two crucial games them we could be consigned to non league football.

The other question is can Gary Bollan can get his best team out. If so it is likely to be more than a match for whoever the opposition is, but the back-up is pretty thin.

Really Jordyn Sheerin, David Cox and Robbie Buchanan are the only regular marksmen and if one picks up a suspension or an injury the resources are very limited.

It is the same in the midfield with Kyle Miller and Blair Malcolm key to the creation of chances.

Cowden have not had a lot of luck this season so hopefully it may come in this two leg tie. We need to avoid injuries and suspensions and if Gary can get his best team out we can keep our place in the league.

However, the alternative is not really something I want to consider.

BLUE BRAZILIAN,
