JOHNSTON Park has been part of Cowdenbeath since the late 1960s and it is amazing that this issue of unadopted paths and roads is still happening.

The estate was set up by the Scottish Special Housing Association and bit by bit was pieced together off Leuchatsbeath Drive over a period of a few years.

It is a slightly unusual estate in that it runs over three levels but that surely does not mean that the roads and paths should be abandoned.

Now it would have been Cowdenbeath Town Council and Fife County Council who would have been the initial local authorities involved with this estate and as they knew they were not going to exist for much longer after 1972 might have not got involved.

However, Fife Regional Council was the roads authority under the re-organisation of 1974 so you would have thought they would have been involved in any discussions about the roads and pavements of Johnston Park being adopted.

But what amazes me is how some bits of the estate have been adopted and other bits not.

Certainly I have walked on the path around the back of Johnston Park to the Public Park and it certainly needs attention.

But it must be very difficult for the residents to make sense of all this.

Hopefully the local councillors will take a grip of this situation and get it sorted out. It should not be left hanging in the air.

SSHA MAN,

Cowdenbeath.
