ON Wednesday March 15th, along with my sister, we took our 95 year old mother into the Queen Margaret Hospital, in Dunfermline, for a day bed small operation.

We were granted one hour's grace because of her age and we did not have to attend until 9 am instead of 8am and when we arrived the staff and surgeon explained all that was happening and took time in helping our mum understand.

We were offered tea and a place to wait if we wished but decided to go home for the two hours wait, and when we returned, mum was just returning from the theatre.

Lots of time was spent with her and fuss made and after dressing her, tea and toast was made available.

Again we were asked if we wished a cup of tea and it was not long after that her medication arrived and we were assisted to the door.

The whole experience of the day restored our faith in the National Health Service. We always hear the moans when all is not right, but it gives me great pleasure to give a huge pat on the back to the service, keep it up.
