AM I right in thinking that Kelty is going to get preferential treatment because the Times ran a big front page article on the state of Keltyhill Road.

Your story had the roads man stating that there was a plan to totally re-surface that road, which admittedly, looked in a bad state from your picture.

But the roads man also stated that the pothole team were going to try and do minor repairs to some of the big holes.

That also seems like special treatment for Kelty.

Has any of the pothole lot gone along Ballingry Street in Lochgelly, they would find some mighty big holes there to sort, I can tell you.

There are at least three or four which pose a real danger to cars.

But that is not the only street in Lochgelly that has problems with the surface.

Of course this time of year is famous for posing problems with road surfaces due to frost and rain so there is no doubt that there will be plenty of people moaning around the district that their streets are the worst.

There are massive issues throughout Fife and with the budget soon to be announced perhaps the roads department will feel the squeeze along with others.

It could be that the roads will get worse and worse if there are no funds to to sort them.

I would say that the Keltyhill Road situation could appear all over the district and beyond.

Make no mistake it could be that the only way to tackle the problems could be a small rise in council tax.

An extra 1p or 2p might be the only way to sort out the situation in general because it would seem that services are going to be trimmed across the authority and the roads will be bound to suffer.

HOLER,

Lochgelly.
