I WOULD like to take my hat off to the people of both Cowdenbeath and Benarty who jumped into freezing cold water on New Year's day for good causes.

The Splash 4 Cash people at the Meedies and the Loony Dookers, at Ravenscraig in Kirkcaldy, are real community legends.

I believe that over 130 people combined to take part in the dooks and the money they realised will run to several thousand pounds.

I know that the Benarty Fundraisers support a good many causes in their community and hopefully they will have raised a lot to make sure that the likes of Santa Benarty keeps forging ahead.

Cowdenbeath Civic Week will be benefitting from the Loony Dookers and they deserve the backing for their all the year round work is really outstanding.

Just remember what these fundraisers did last Monday.

They thought nothing about getting up and jumping into a freezing loch, as far as the Splashers were concerned, while the Dookers plunged into the River Forth.

That takes some conviction to go out and do that in pretty cold conditions.

So well done everyone who took part and it would look like all parts of the community got involved. Long may it continue.

DOOK FAN,

Cowdenbeath.
