LAST Sunday evening I attended the Cowdenbeath Community Choir Concert under the direction and leadership of Calum Paterson along with a performance by Kingdom Brass band conducted most ably by their leader Paul.

What struck me that evening was not only the amazing

amount of talent we have in our town – but that such a high standard of performance could be given by a number of ordinary Cowdenbeath folk who either volunteered to form a choir - ages ranging 6 – 89 (no kidding!) or join a brass band. The choir only began rehearsing in October under the direction of a young man (still in his teens!). The musicians in Kingdom Brass – at one time had begun to play an instrument, and eventually joined a local band and so contributed to a most amazing sound.

I understand they are ranked 38th in the WORLD!

In the media these days both internationally, nationally and local, we hear so much bad news stemming from hatred and leading to war, racism, stabbings, murder, robbery and so on, but the good stuff, the likes of which I heard that evening, rarely hits the news does it – yet these things are happening all over our country, along with acts of kindness done to a

neighbour, or a friend, or someone down the street – so I wanted to make it news that we have a great deal of local amazing people, of whom I am proud, as were, I am sure, all those who attended that evening. Well done everybody.

JAN ADAMS,

Cowdenbeath.
