I AM writing to alert your readers to a campaign running this week that aims to raise awareness of the emotional, practical, financial and long term physical problems that cancer can bring.

My organisation Macmillan Cancer Support has carried out research that has found many people experience these problems during and after treatment, and too many people aren’t getting the help they need to cope.

This is why we, along with the Scottish Government, the NHS and local authorities across Scotland, set up the Transforming Care After Treatment (TCAT) programme.

Since launching in 2013, the 25 projects across the country that make up the TCAT programme have been testing and spreading better ways of giving people the support they need.

Macmillan want health and social care leaders across Scotland to learn from the programme locally so everyone with cancer gets the care and support they need.

To find out more about the TCAT programme visit https://www.macmillan.org.uk/about-us/health-professionals/programmes-and-services/transforming-care-after-treatment-scotland.html

Thank you.

JANICE PRESTON,

Head of Macmillan Cancer Support,

Scotland.
