BENARTY Community Council would like to say a very big thank-you to everybody who attended this year's Remembrance Service on Sunday November 12 at Lochore Bowling Club and at the War Memorial Club on Lochleven Road.

Special thanks to Rev Geoff Probert for conducting the service, to David Graham, the organist, to Tom Brown, for organising the pipers from Lochgelly High School and to Dougie Harrower the Bugler.

Their involvement makes the day that bit more special. Thanks to Linda and Margaret for doing the Readings and to Detachment Commander Mark Elliott for organising the cadets, their attendance is much appreciated.

Thanks to Alex Mulligan for setting out the hall for us and to Lochore Bowling Club for allowing us the use of their premises for the service and the refreshments afterwards.

Wreaths were laid on behalf Ballingry Detachment Army Cadet Force, Benarty Community Council, Fife Council, Lodge Ballingry 1183, Lochore and District Old People's Welfare Society, Benarty Centre, Ss Kenneth and Bernard's Church, St Serf's Church Ballingry; BRAG, Fife Veterans, Co-op Funeralcare, Benarty Funeral Directors, Benarty Heritage Preservation Group, Lochore Institute, Benarty Astros, Benarty Environment Group, Lochore Bowling Club, Ballingry Celtic Supporters Club, Benore Care Home, BLCT and Andrew and John Glencross.

The weather was kinder to us this year but very cold and it did not deter many members of the public who came from near and far to attend this very special service and we would like to say a huge thank-you to all of them.

The Poppy Laying Service on Saturday November 11 at 11am in Ballingry Cemetery was again very well attended by members of the public who kindly brought along their kids and grandkids to help.

Jim Carr conducted a short service before the two minute silence and Jack Malvenan, played The Lament and then all those present helped to lay the Poppy Crosses on the War Graves.

Our sincere thanks to everybody who attended these services, your presence helps make our job that much easier.

STEPHEN NARDONE,

Benarty Community Council.
