IT was really enthralling to see the Cardenden Community Bonfire and Fireworks Display do so well at Guy Fawkes time.

After all the concern before the big night there was still a really big crowd at Wallsgreen Park and hopefully there were really good contributions in the buckets and cans.

The volunteers make a magnificent effort in preparing the bonfire and park for the fireworks display and it would be a real shame if the committee were unable to continue.

I would think that the over the coming weeks will be key to the future of the event.

The takings on the night will be added up and that will maybe let the committee know what the future holds.

I heard that if the collections raised more than £2,500 things would be OK so it be interesting to find out how much was donated.

To be honest when you look at the fireworks display it is certainly worth a lot more than the odd pound put into a can or collection bucket.

It really is hard to believe that it would seem that many must be going to the event and putting nothing in the collection.

That really is totally wrong. There you have a small group of people volunteering to create this event which has been something which makes Cardenden talked about all over the county and people will try and get a freebe.!

Hopefully the money collection will have come to a good total and will be enough to encourage the committee to keep the firework display going.

To have 4,000 people coming to Cardenden for the display is really excellent and everyone wants that to continue.

If it does not it will be a very sad day for everyone concerned.
