REGARDS Maureen Kennedy's letter about the town house in Cowdenbeath and funds, we all agree with her.

She alone seems to be the only one with enough courage to speak out. All she states is true.

Why is the council robbing our town of its only landmark left of historical substance.

There is so much scope for this building to 'get rid of it' either by demolishing it or selling for profits-just to try somewhere else to 'obtain' our heritage.

Maureen was right too. Never thought it between the three of us, where do the funds go when they sell buildings.

For example the No7 public toilets, they, the council, say it is not feasible to keep these open. Why is this? When it comes to selling they seem to take the smallest amount offered without declaring use for the future. Seems the council itself is 'causing' the problem in High Street.

£250,000 given for boosting the area; £90,000 for giving counselling services which fell through. Where did that £90,000 go?

£250,000, why not use this for the town house and give us a museum, heritage/library facility for Cowdenbeath.

We are all sick to death of all the false promises.

We will give you a prediction. High Street, we were assured , finally finished off last year so no more traffic disturbances.

Want a bet? Cowdenbeath High Street will be totally disrupted before and up to Christmas.

Also another point that was mentioned was the opening to Morrisons from the Fountain/High Street junction.

A lot of letters have mentioned pavement width decreased so no hold ups with traffic-by making a simple road end marked for three lanes, one for entering from the High Street; secondly for those drivers leaving to the left and three for drivers leaving to the right.

This is so simple a job and would stop all Christmas and other hold-ups with traffic flowing freely.

No more excuses about going to put fancy lighting there, put three lanes in to stop hold-ups and encourage more to enter this town of Cowdenbeath instead of turning people away.

DISGUSTED ANGRY PENSIONERS,

Cowdenbeath.

There are a number projects in the pipeline to help make traffic flow better on High Street as part of the Sustrans project. The Ed.
