LOCHGELLY Community Council is quite right to be actively involved in looking at forcing the pace with trying to get the old Fabtec building removed.

It has been a real problem for years but of course at that time there was more pressing situations like the state of the town's library and the ground behind it.

Now within the space of a few years that has been all sorted but still we have the trouble with the mess that is Fabtec.

I would say it is not only a mess, it is bound to be a danger with it sitting there like a magnet for youngsters.

Mercifully no one seems to have been badly injured yet but that could happen any time.

After all we seem to get gatherings of kids in the public park, only yards along the road, especially on Saturday nights and who would be surprised if one or two drifted into the Fabtec site.

We are heading into the dark nights now so that could easily happen.

What is needed is that the problem building is removed and replaced with perhaps car parking, or as has been suggested by the community council, social housing.

Time for action, or is it the same case as with the old burnt out building at the north end of Cowdenbeath High Street and the owners slow to act?

REGEN,

Lochgelly.
