THAT was good news about the Village Playpark Group for Crossgates having proposals for a Lumphinnans style sports hub.

Certainly the area of land that was talked about in the Times article last week would be ideal for such a facility.

Currently it is not really used regularly for activities and it would comfortably house the sort of facility down Gagarin Way.

I noticed that while the council officers might have been a little more communicative with the group, the education chief was much more positive which is good news.

Maybe part of the land could be used for any school extension and the rest for the hub.

The thing is that the hub would be used by the school pupils and that would be an all round great thing for Crossgates.

Funding the project could be a drawback though, for the Lumphinnans facility was something that was made possible by Tesco buying North End Park in Cowdenbeath.

That is not available in the village unfortunately, but there could be means of finding funding.

Alex Campbell is right to promote the idea and the enthusiasm of the Village Park Group because without enthusiasm from the people of Crossgates it will not happen.
