I WOULD like to pass on my warm and sincere thanks to all young people, their families and members of the wider community who lent us a massive hand last weekend at the 24 hour Game-a-thon, the massed Pipe Band and next day's Lochgelly Gala Parade and stall.

It was a wonderful weekend to celebrate that this year Lochgelly High School is 30 years young, however we also managed to raise £4,000 for our three charities chosen by our young people: Macmillan, Anthony Nolan Trust and the Polar Academy.

Events such as these cannot happen without strong community support and a staff team that goes that extra mile...or in this case that extra 24 hours playing games overnight in school!

Thirty years on from opening, our school is in a strong position with the highest attainment in its history and a clear sense of pride, inclusion and ambition running throughout our school community.

Last weekend was just the first of many events we have planned for our 30th Anniversary, the next being Cinderella our Christmas pantomime and the annual Christmas concert, both held in the Lochgelly Centre.

Thank you for your support so far and I look forward to seeing you throughout the year.

CAROL ANN PENROSE,

Rector,

Lochgelly High School.
