A VERY interesting article in the Times last week about SEPA saying that there will be no report published into any findings from their inquiries into the flaring incidents at Mossmorran in June.

Now for me that is a real shame. Because surely this is a matter that is very much in the public eye.

We have seen claim and counter claim made about what went on in June and now we have Scotland's protector of the environment carrying out a probe and no one gets to know the findings, not even the depute leader of the Scottish Labour Party.

There is something that does not seem quite right about that.

I do believe that if they were to find out something important that it would see moves made by SEPA to get the gas companies to explain themselves.

However, meanwhile the people at the 'coal face' so to speak, us, have to just wonder what has gone on.

I see that the Scottish Government Minister again has stressed that she cannot be involved too much in the circumstances in case there was to be an appeal against any decision.

I suppose we can accept that as it is only right that Government officials are our final port of call in a difficult situation.

As we have not had this sort of situation before it is no real surprise that there is some disquiet that we cannot see what the findings of SEPA will be.

But as I have said before, the plants very seldom flare and there has been very little since these June occurrences so hopefully all is well at Mossmorran.
