WHAT an interesting article in last week's Times about CACA.
You know I had no idea that Cowdenbeath Area Community Association has been in existence for 40 plus years.
That really is amazing and to have dealt with three generations of families in the town is quite something.
From what David Stevenson was saying it seemed that schools were not open to the public after the pupils left for the day until the CACA experiment was seen to be working.
It really is brilliant how local volunteers made it work with the help of a few council staff and the system is still working pretty well today.
It could be said that community use of schools came from CACA and look how successful that has been for the whole of Fife.
David has to take a lot of credit himself along with all these volunteers who have helped along the way.
Their commitment has been something that has made the idea work and can I say that they deserve the utmost thanks from the hundreds of youngsters who have been lucky enough to enjoy themselves on Friday nights at the old Beath and now the new building.
CACA,
Cowdenbeath
