IT is high time that the parking problems in Lochgelly are tackled.

I know that it has been said that when the new Health Centre is built in Francis Street a massive car park will go with it and that will help ease the problems on main Street and Bank Street along with the chaotic East Main Street.

Indeed, East Main Street is really awful at times and I really feel for the bus drivers at times.

With vehicles of all shapes and sizes parked on both sides of the street it is difficult enough for a Mini to get along the street far less a bus.

It really is lamentable that people still park on the north side of East Main Street for there is the yellow line and it is just ignored as it has been for many years.

Francis Street can be as bad, especially during forenoons with cars, lorries and vans blocking things up.

The little car park behind Knockhill Close fills up quickly and then people just choose to park anywhere.

Too many just leave their vehicles stuck in anywhere or half on the pavements.

It means that pedestrians can at times find it difficult to negotiate their way up Francis Street to Bank Street.

But Bank Street can have its own problems too.

There can be all sorts of situations develop with cars frequently lying right back to the junction with Francis Street.

In this era of little or no parking warden visits the streets of Lochgelly are an open area for drivers wishing to park illegally.

So how much more have we to see until something is done.

Things have been attempted further along Main Street but alas not at the Bank Street end. Possibly Cowdenbeath Area Committee could take this on board when they start meeting again?

PARKER,

Lochgelly.
