I MUST say I was absolutely delighted to read the front page story in the Times last week.

That old shop building has dominated the entrance to Cardenden Railway Station for far too long.

To be truthful the problem has been the various owners of the property. I am not sure exactly what they thought they would be able to do with the property.

Unlike in Cowdenbeath, where the Crown Hotel has been left in a burnt out state for more than eight years now, there was never any hope that the the old shop could be developed into housing.

It was as if the people who owned it were simply being awkward.

Of course none of them come from the Cardenden area so they probably don't care what their dilapidated property has looked like.

Of course a couple of years back there was real concern about possible rodent issues which made it a really worrying issue.

So congratulations to the Development Forum for forcing the issue all the way.

They could easily have given up but they were not for that and kept at it and finally the disgraceful mess is all but gone.

Hopefully the area will be transformed into something which will welcome people to Cardenden not shock them.

HAPPY,

Cardenden.
