TO all those with connections to Lochgelly High School Pipe Band, as you may have seen in the local media, Lochgelly High School is celebrating its 30th year in 2017.

To mark this we are holding a 24 hour Game-A-Thon, involving our entire school and many members of the local community. This is a huge event for us and we are aiming to incorporate as much of our community as possible.

This exciting celebration will come to a climax when a massed pipe band procession, made up of as many former members of the school band as we can find, makes its way on a short route starting at Lochgelly High School, showing our community our pride, strength and musical talent!

As many of you know, I am also celebrating my 30th anniversary at Lochgelly. This makes this event all the more special for me as I reflect on all of the young people I have taught; I have three decades of special memories and every one of which holds a special place in my heart. The pride I anticipate feeling as our “massed pipe band” plays to its own wonderful community, will be truly overwhelming.

It is in that spirit of pride that I ask for as many of you as possible, with links, past and present to Lochgelly High School Pipe Band to join me in our celebratory parade. This will take place on Saturday August 19. All musicians should report at 10am to the High School dining hall and the parade will begin at 11am from the rear of the school. Please share this invitation with as many people as possible.

I am hopeful that as many of you as possible are able to attend this event. It means a huge amount not only to me but also to our entire school and community. Seeing old faces and hearing you all play together will be a dream come true. Yours, in eager anticipation,
