THE state of the old factory unit in Hall Street, Lochgelly, is certainly something that needs to be tackled.

At a time when a lot of investment is going into the central part of Lochgelly to have this old Fabtec building blighting the eyeline is not right.

The fact is that the town won the Scotland’s Most Improved Town award last year which was a superb achievement and that was despite the mess in Hall Street. But that does not mean that this derelict structure should be allowed to remain.

It is not only a blight on the eye it can be a real attraction to youngsters as a playground and that is something that needs to be avoided.

The premises have not been used for a lot of years now and are bound to be pretty dangerous inside.

It is easy enough to say that kids should not be inside something like this but the fact is that these sort of derelict structures can seem to be an adventure playground and be a magnet for them.

So it is a problem in the town for many reasons and really needs to be got rid of.

It just seems not right when we have a new 16 home superb housing scheme literally only yards away we have this mess.

Hopefully it is something the new Cowdenbeath Area Committee might look at as a priority to tackle because the way things are going you get the feeling it could be there for many years to come. There are so many things this site could be used for if this structure was removed so hopefully over the next few months something will be done to remove it.

Remember a lot of money is being spent on improvements in the public park and it too is just a few hundred yards from this awful eyesore.

COMMUNITY ACTION NEEDED,

Lochgelly.
