I WAS really interested in your article of a few weeks back about the Community Rail Partnership idea.

I would say that all three stations are a key part of their respective communities.

Each day there are hundreds of people leaving the district in trains for a variety of reasons, many to go to their work, and the railway stations are an important part of their lives.

The thing is that each station in this locality has its own accessibility problems with them being situated quite high up.

Take Cowdenbeath station, on one side there is a steep set of steps and on the other a steep sloping path.

That is a situation that has existed for many, many years but whoever has been running the railways has really not bothered about it.

The bottom line is that for disabled people and parents’ with young children using the train can be awkward.

From reading the article in the Times this is maybe not something that the Community Rail Partnership could directly tackle.

But it is something that does need addressing. Maybe NetworkRail can be leaned on by the Partnership to address that sort of issue and make stations easily accessible to all.

RAILER,

Cowdenbeath.
