HOW interesting that it is 30 years since the Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre opened.

Quite a landmark in the town and it is one which has a bright future.

The Leisure Centre has become what it is through a series of phases and what started as basically a swimming pool has the basis of one of Fife’s best sports centres.

I remember reading in the Times that there are already investment plans in the pipeline to create further development schemes which will see it house the town’s library plus other facilities.

When you add the new Community Centre and the skatepark, which is to be built in the Central Park area, the Leisure Centre is going to be very much in the place to be an important part of the leisure and recreation facilities of the town.

You could not believe how the small swimming pool could develop into the massive facility it is set to be.

Cowdenbeath.
