IS it not a shame that we have this situation where a lot of money has been accrued to be spent at Lochgelly Public Park yet we still have a lot of unsocial behaviour happening there.

What happened to the man in Hall Street who had his windows repeatedly struck by small stones is really unacceptable.

And the perpetrators told him that it was because they felt it was the only way to get a skatepark in the town.

It is possible that these kids are not the people involved in the unsociable behaviour problems at the park that seem especially to happen at weekends. Then again maybe they are.

This is not something that has just happened, it has been occurring for years.

Indeed, it has always been suggested that the strange looking shelter is used as a meeting place for those who are considering doing no good.

I suppose if it was the case then maybe the shelter should have been removed.

But what has to be asked is, will the shelter be replaced by the skatepark as the gathering point for the youngsters who might want to do a spot of under age drinking.

I have been told that the skatepark in Ballingry has had that sort of attraction, but that is purely what I was told.

It would indeed be a shame if that was the case for the park is having money spent on it which the Park Improvement Group has worked hard to get.

It would be good if the young people try to adopt the park and make it their own to use but not abuse.

Over the coming weeks the park work will be virtually completed with the skatepark in action.

So the man in Hall Street should not see much more trouble, if the kids are as good as their word but really we need to get people to realise that a town like Lochgelly needs a place like the public park which in the long summer days can be a real community facility.

Oh well I suppose only time will tell but I hope that the those who have been involved in causing problems change their view and enjoy the park.

PARKY,

Lochgelly.
