A NUMBER of your readers will have suffered from the effects of stroke and they may be interested to know that the Stroke Association has been chosen as one of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival’s premier affiliate charities for the 2018 event.

This will lead to greater exposure for the charity in the run-up to and the duration of the event weekend, which will take place on May 26 and 27 2018.

Stroke is Scotland’s third biggest killer and leading cause of disability. Yet stroke is still unrecognised by many and stroke awareness needs to improve.

We are delighted the Edinburgh Marathon Festival has chosen us as one of their premier affiliate charities. It will be great to see stroke and the Stroke Association getting the attention that it deserves.

2018 will be the 16th Edinburgh Marathon Festival and with various distances available, there is a race for everyone to get involved with.

We’re encouraging runners of all abilities to get involved with Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2018 and run for the Stroke Association. The money raised by our runners will help us to conquer stroke.

The Stroke Association is a charity. We believe in life after stroke and we’re leading a community of people to change the world for people affected by stroke. We work directly with stroke survivors and their families and carers, with health and social care professionals and with scientists and researchers.

We campaign to improve stroke care and support people to make the best recovery they can. We fund research to develop new treatments and ways of preventing stroke. The Stroke Helpline (0303 303 3100) provides information and support on stroke. More information can be found at www.stroke.org.uk
