IT was no surprise at all that the RBS refused to budge on their decision to close their Cowdenbeath branch.

They have a record of not being interested what the public think and while it was worth the Conservative politician Murdo Fraser having a shot at trying to get them to reconsider their moves, it was never going to have an impact.

They are set on their plans to shut branches and try and get people to bank online.

The days of them having a presence in smaller communities are gone and it would seem that a town the size of Dunfermline is about as small as it will get.

The RBS has simply never recovered from the rigours of the noughties and it will not really ever be interested in Cowdenbeath ever again.

A real shame because the RBS was a bank that was part of the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly community having a link in Kelty but that is all in the past now.

So the RBS will probably lose a lot of its customers from this area but them that has been the case in many communities.

BANKER,

Cowdenbeath.
