I SAW letters in the Times recently about £90,000 that was recently allegedly abused.

I could not help but notice another another of the letters was about a counsellor who is well known and admired for all the work she does, not just in this area but all over.

That being Maureen Kennedy, of Identicat Scotland. How can these councils be so brazen? This lady has given 40 years of her life to counselling and helping others, at any time of day and night.

So readers please do help me. How can the the council give away £90,000 with one hand and yet not acknowledge this lady's work, which must take a burden off the tax payer.

I had not seen this side before, but these two letters being on the same page on the same day, it just stuck out and I know it will now to many others.

How can £90,000 be handed over to whoever and yet no help be given to this lady whom we all assumed was backed or sponsored by the council. Now we find out she is not.

Funny she is the only one who is there for you and I know from personal experience, she cares in an emotional way but works in an extra practical way to add assistance to problems.

She always follows up your situation which is a blessing. That is just the counselling side, she overlaps the history side sometimes into the counselling which is reason perhaps I admire the way she goes about helping, sometimes in a way that only she herself can name.

She keeps your spirits up and you know, you trust, she is there for you. She will never let you down.

Maureen is always herself, perhaps this is the reason Fife and other Cowdenbeath councils do not back her. But you have to ask the question Why not?

Surely it is not because she is an individual? I have heard that funds are not applicable to any one person. But this is the reason we trust that one person. Because no one else has privy to her counselling.

We know all we have talked about is safe from prying eyes and mouths. It is a great feeling to know you can trust and lean on a certain someone, not matter what. Recently this could have a lot to learn from her in many aspects.

Maureen, congratulations on reaching 40 years of helping us all. Hope you go on for another 40, for we need you.

PETER HUNTER,

Kelty.
