MUCH of the media has said that Theresa May's call for a General Election is a strategic coup.
Call me a cynic, but I am certain this is not true, as most of the disaffected public, like myself, will not be voting in yet another tedious campaign, which will therefore leave a vacuum for minority parties to exploit.
I think May, as a former EU Remainer, has deliberately copped out. I don't think here heart is really set on Brexit, unless she has had a Damascene Moment, which I doubt.
Instead her intent is to delegate powers to Remainers by negotiating powers to a confederation of lesser parties, this resulting in a political fudge which will mean we will remain in the EU, just as she originally intended.
Additionally, by disenfranchising potential pensioner voters (a substantial sum) by not agreeing for a triple lock on pensions, she may have lost a considerable vote to other parties.
As Mrs May says, the will of the people may have spoken about Brexit, but that does not mean, to use the knitting parlance, the majority can't still be stitched up.
DISENFRANCHISING,
Cowdenbeath.
