I WOULD say that the planning application which would get rid of the old water tower down McGregor Avenue, in Lochgelly, should be welcomed.

The old water tower has been a problem down there for a lot of years and indeed something which has posed a health danger.

Not surprisingly the tower has been a magnet for youngsters as a playground although it has not been in use for many years.

Mercifully, despite the fact that a lot of kids have been attracted to it there has been no major accident occurring.

But despite all sorts of campaigning no one has been successful in coming up with a way of getting rid of the old structure.

A plan for a house in this neck of the woods is a good one and it would be an ideal solution to the issue.

It is a picturesque part of the town and the house would, I imagine, be snapped up once it is built.

And at the same time it would be getting rid of one of the town’s eyesores so hopefully Fife Council will give the plan the go-ahead as I cannot see anyone lodging an opposition to the house plan.

ENVIRO MAN,

Lochgelly.
