I BELIEVE the SNP leaders and others realise it is make or break time for the SNP and their idea of Scottish Independence.

Perhaps the coming local elections will be a guide?

Following Brexit the Scottish Government set out its position on Europe, Independence and Devolution in a long letter entitled 'Scotland's Place in Europe' sent to the British Prime Minister, Theresa May.

In that letter the Scottish Government 'recognises' the reality that if Scotland is not an independent country and remains within the UK it will almost certainly have to leave the EU.

'Differentiated' options are also submitted with membership of the European single market, being central.

TV discussions inform us that 'dozens and dozens' of meetings have been held between the Scottish and UK Government officials but it seems the SNP Minister and team have not made a convincing argument on their carefully crafted options.

Only Mrs May and others will ultimately judge if the SNP Government is a help or a hindrance.

The Scottish Government and First Minister Sturgeon say the situation we are in should transcend party politics.

They say the UK voted for a 'deeply flawed Leave prospectus'.

In 2014 they said we were 'conned'. Some people believe the document, 'Scotland's Place in Europe' is a 'blueprint, a road map' a compromise position and a 'platform' on to which the SNP and others can rebuild the 'Yes' movement.

In asking for a delay it seems Mrs May has saved the SNP bacon, they have at least two more years to conjure up a coherent, practicable case for Scottish Independence if they can.

I believe that have the Scots have the right to choose their future, but equally I believe they have the right to say 'No' to SNP plans for separation and breakaway from the rest of the United Kingdom.

Kelty.
