I AM amazed at what has been achieved by the volunteers of Benarty.
The Santa Benarty initiative has been a truly great effort which has seen lots of needy youngsters get a Christmas they will remember for a long time.
The work of James Fotheringham, Bill McKean and Mike Payne and their helpers deserves the warmest of praise.
Make no mistake the reaction to their appeal was truly magnificent and one which will not be forgotten by the people of the Ballingry area.
It really shows what a fine community spirit we have down here and I will be that it would make Willie Clarke proud to know of what has been going on in the villages.
The volunteers who helped stack the parcels and get them wrapped are real unsung heroes too because without their hard work the success would not have been achieved.
Yes Christmas 2016 will be long remembered by a lot of people and I would think that everyone involved deserves a big pat on the back.
