LOCHGELLY Community Lights group, Eileen McKenna, chairperson; Christine McGrath, secretary; Helen Ross, treasurer; Tam Durham, vice chair; and committee would like to offer the warmest thank to everyone who has supported their efforts to make the town twinkle this Christmas.

They include the 4Winds Trust; the Community Events Grant; Ore Valley Housing Association; Kingdom Housing Association; Purvis Plant Hire; Lochgelly Community Council; Lochgelly Community Shop; Benarty and Lochgelly Credit Union; S and M Bayne's Bakers; Councillor Linda Erskine; Mrs J Aitken and Mrs J MacDonald; Perfect Pooches; Body Glo; and the West End Bar for all grants and donations.

A special thanks has to go to Lochgelly High School Pipe and Wind Bands; and the choir from Lochgelly West Primary School for the carol service at the switch-on.

Major Mary McDonald, of the Salvation Army for the Christmas Message; and Citizens of the Year, senior Derek Johnstone and junior Charlie Blair, for switching on the Christmas lights in Lochgelly.

Mr and Mrs Santa for listening to a very long line of children with their Christmas lists; and Lorraine Mullen and Craig, youth workers from Fife Council, for the Christmas music in the Town Hall.

Also Lochgelly Women's Social Group; Volunteers from the Community Shop, along with Lochgelly Heritage Group and friends.

Lochgelly.org (Loch of Shining Water), James Glen and Dod Kinnell (official photographers, George Elder (Growing in Lochgelly) and all local residents who came out to support us on such a very cold night and making the Lochgelly Christmas Lights switch-on once more a brilliant success.
