THE situation that is occurring on the main road between Cowdenbeath and Crossgates has to be one which the roads authorities deal with.

The condition of the stretch last week was truly awful with large areas of mud, which was deposited by lorries coming from the adjacent field.

The thing is it was not just mud but also small stones which were getting flicked up by wheels.

I know that the people of Hill of Beath have complained before about the mess that has been left on the road by lorries working at that field.

As I was driving along the road on Tuesday of last week there was a sweeper truck trying hard to clean up the road but no sooner had he gone along another lorry would appear and more mud went down on the carriageway.

It must be very frustrating for the residents whose homes back onto the main road for they will get a all sorts of muck landing about their property thrown up by passing traffic.

I remember reading somewhere that roads have to be kept clear of surface debris and that was certainly not the case on this stretch last week.

There has to be something done to avoid a repeat of last week's havoc.

I hope that the Hill of Beath Community Council people are successful for any casual user of the road would wonder what was going on.

VILLAGER,

Crossgates.
