BRIAN Menzies is right to make a strong point about the careless flytipping in Benarty.

It just is so wrong to dump old mattresses and fridges only yards away from a brand new £1m feature that has been created in the area and also the Lochore Meadows Country Park.

Now Benarty is not the only area which is suffering from the illegal dumping problem there are continuing issues through the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area.

There is a school of thought that the reduction of opening hours for Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly recycling Centres will add to the problem but the fact is that the perpetrators seem to not be the least bit interested in using the free facilities tat are available to take their unwanted items.

It would seem that there needs to be stronger action taken by authorities to deal with people who don't care about ruining our countryside.

There needs to be a structure in place where people feel comfortable at reporting perpetrators they see dumping illegally. All it needs is a vehicle registration number to get the wheels in motion.

There are going to be thousands of visitors to the area this summer through the country park and Fife Cycle Track and the last thing we need is people using the countryside around as a dumping ground.
