THE tragic death of twins from Kelty within a year of each other through Sepsis really underlines the seriousness of this condition.
In February the Scottish Government launched an information campaign on Sepsis to attempt to get over the dangers that the condition can carry.
If not caught quickly then it can be a menacing killer that can strike down a person before anyone really knows what it happening.
The message is a simple one that do not put off seeking medical help if you do not feel at all well.
Sepsis is about the disease basically entering the blood stream and attacking the body's organs. It can enter through an abrasion.
Only quick action through the use of strong antibiotics can tackle it and kill it.
And at that it takes time to fully get the poison out of the system.
The fact is that in Scotland people are dying of Sepsis every day so if you feel really unwell seek medical help. If it is not Sepsis then the medics will not mind, because when it is not tackled swiftly it could kill.
