THE decision by Cowdenbeath Area Committee that councillors should enter into the debate over community council boundaries should not deter Benarty Community Council from looking at ways to sort the problem they have in Glencraig.
It would appear that since Fife Council took over from Dunfermline District Council and Fife Regional Council in 1997 the boundary between Benarty and Lochgelly has been the Loch Fitty Burn.
When that became the case is not documented and for BCC it leaves the members believing that the Glencraig is in 'no man's land'.
But it was made clear at Wednesday's meeting that boundaries can be changed if community council's agree. Certainly it seems strange that South Glencraig, which is historically always been part of Benarty, should be in Lochgelly CC's sphere of influence.
But if Lochgelly and Benarty CCs get together they can surely come to some suitable arrangement that will sort out this current issue which is causing some real disquiet in Benarty.
