THE year has hardly started and the Cowdenbeath Environment Group finds that a beauty spot in the town is being abused by a small group of young people who seemed to simply not care.

The fact is that who ever was involved in dragging card board up from the High Street were a determined bunch because it is no short distance to the Community Woodland.

The volunteers who keep the stretch of woods between Cowdenbeath and Crossgates in top class nick every summer for the visit of the Beautiful Fife judges are right to be thoroughly annoyed.

This, and other beauty spots in the town, have been attacked by individuals who seem to have no civic pride at all.

The Millennium Garden has had unwanted visitors over the past year and even the floral displays on High Street seem to catch the attention of the wreckers.

However, the volunteers ensure that the damage caused is sorted and despite the efforts of the wreckers Cowdenbeath has achieved a silver award in recent years.

So maybe the people causing the damage, and their parents, should take time out and think before they act.
