THE campaign by a Crosshill couple to raise money to have baby cams available at the maternity unit at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, is a very worthy cause.

Carrie Robson and Peter Greenhorn were disappointed when they had to leave their premature baby Jacob in the care of the Special Care Baby Unit at the hospital weighing just under 3lbs.

They felt really awkward that they had to leave him behind and although they were fully confident that the Baby Unit's staff would give him the best of care, not being there was hard for them to take.

So the idea of being able to see him with a baby cam was something that caught their imagination but while the Unit has had cams on trial NHS Fife cannot afford them.

So Carrie and Peter, in partnership with Dunfermline footballer Joe Cardle and his partner Lucy Paterson, are aiming to raise £10,000 to fit baby cams at the Unit and maintain them.

There are a number of fundraisers in the pipeline and they are hoping people will back them.

The cams will help new parents be spared the anguish that Carrie and Peter experienced so it is indeed a worthy cause.
