THE work done by the Safer Communities Team and police officers in working to ease the problems caused by anti-social behaviour in Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly are to be commended.

The situation in Lochgelly Public Park has been well documented by the concerns expressed by the town's community councils but the situation in Broad Street, Cowdenbeath, was not so widely known.

The common denominator in both situations was under-age drinking and it still is a problem in the area.

It would seem that there are adults prepared to go into off licenses on behalf of kids and buy them drink.

As long as that happens there will be problems with youngsters causing anti-social behaviour.

People seem to be oblivious to the fact that what they are doing is wrong and is really breaking the law.

Hopefully they will realise the error of their ways and stop this foolhardy practice.

It is good that the police and SCTs are combining heading off the anti-social actions by trying to encourage the youngsters that there are more productive ways to spend their time. Bit by bit it will work.
