THE call for a halt to the cycle track project in Glencraig was surely over the top.
This project has been on the table now for a couple of years and was backed by the Cowdenbeath Area Committee as part of several measures to increase the attractiveness of the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area.
I would say while this project will bring a big number of elite Scottish cyclists to the area it will also be there for local people and may well persuade people of all ages to have a bash at cycling which will improve physical fitness.
It is a project, which like the indoor climbing centre at the former St Andrews Church building in Bank Street, Lochgelly, which will attract people to the area but also will provide facilities for local people to go and have a try.
Surely such investment in the area is to be welcomed.
