THE news that SUSTRANS is set to plough £680,000 into Cowdenbeath is a real boost for everyone in the area.

The town is the shopping hub of the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area and various sections of the SUSTRANS project will totally enhance the town and make it more attractive to visitors and potential shoppers.

In our 25 Years Ago feature it is mentioned that the town centre in Cowdenbeath was to get its first ever green space on the former Guthrie Church site.

Well maybe it has taken time but the green look is certain to be enhanced in the coming months.

The new Cowdenbeath Area Committee is bound to be delighted by this news and it will give the councillors a flying start to their term of office.

With Lochgelly winning the Most Improved Town award in November and now this news Central Fife is no longer the forgotten land!
