THE worries expressed by Nat Whyte about cars, lorries and other vehicles too often exceeding the 20mph speed limit on Foulford Road are not scaremongering.

This road, which in one way or another, has an influence over three schools, is a very busy one linking one side of Cowdenbeath with the other, and as the Leuchatsbeath housing developments continue to grow, there is little prospect of the volume of vehicles reducing.

Indeed, it is only likely to to grow and grow and meantime, while some drivers adhere strictly to the '20's Plenty' adage, they are probably in the minority.

As Crossing Control Officer Nat Whyte is right to bring this to public attention so hopefully at least some of the motorists will take notice and stick to 20 or less.

The last thing we want to see is a child being injured on this very busy stretch of road between 8am and 9am in the morning and between 3pm and 3.30pm in the afternoon as cars and other vehicles scurry about their business.

It is maybe time for the return of the Pop Up Jim (PC Jim Graham) life size photographs which have been very effective in the past.
