THERE has been a lot going on at Lochgelly Public Park over 2016 and the town's community council is keen to see more happening.

They want people in the town to lodge what they want to see happen in 2017 and would welcome as many suggestions as possible.

There have been some criticism of the work done at the park.

Most people have been pleased with the increased trees and wild flowers and also the MUGA facility at the south end of the park.

There has been concern put forward in some sectors about the loss of the red ash area at the north end of the park but the gala organisers have been assured that it will not affect their ability to have next year's event end at the Public Park.

The community council seemed to be happy to take on board any suggestions for improvements to the park and of course they are hoping that the former tennis courts area will be upgraded next year also.

So if you have any idea which you feel could make a difference ensure you lodge it either online or by sending a letter to the organisation.

The opportunity is there so grab it.

Rescuers deserve award for brave act

I WAS very impressed with the efforts of these complete strangers who helped the Cowdenbeath woman who lost her dog in the sea.

For the men to stop and go into the River Forth to get the young animal to safety shows that gallantry is still alive and well.

It was truly something that warms the cockles of the heart and it would be brilliant if one of the animal charities could give them an award for their bravery.

DOG WALKER,
