THINGS are really happening in Lochgelly now.

Not only to we have the Lochgelly Going Forward Action Plan being launched we have news of the start of the work to create the climbing school in the former St Andrews Church.

This is indeed a time of much happening and hopefully the people of the town will appreciate what is going on and want to get involved.

The Going Forward Project is all about funds being provided for projects that local people have come up with being put into action.

There was a good turn out at the launch meeting held in the town hall and hopefully everyone that was there will want to lend a hand.

And the news about the RockGelly project is another which really will see a big change to the central part of the town.

It is, of course, linked to the housing initiative which has seen the former town house made into flats.

This along with the building of homes on the site of the former town library is creating 16 new affordable homes in Lochgelly at a time when housing is in short supply.

It means that a part of the former mining town that was looking a little tired will have new life breathed into it.

The houses are nearing completion and people will be moving in to them later in the year.

And when the RockGelly project is complete next year that part of the town between High Street and Bank Street will be completely revamped.

The indoor climbing centre will be one of Scotland's most modern facilities of its type and it is anticipated that it will bring thousands of people to the town each year which will be good news for businesses.

So when this is added to the work that has been done in Main Street by Ore Valley Housing Association the town is definitely changing for the better.
