YET again we have people trying to undo the good work of the Cowdenbeath Environment Group.

The gallant band of members with the help of many volunteers, do an amazing job about the town, despite the efforts of the vandals.

The attacks on the flower planters on High Street was bad enough but the attempt to burn down trees in the Community Woodland is really quite ridiculous.

You do wonder what the agenda of these people was. Was it all about cause damage, or just about having a bit of fun.

No matter what it was it was a very silly thing to do and could have caused untold damage.

What probably ensured that the damage was fairly minimal was the wet weather we have experienced would have made the tree difficult to ignite.

The annoyed Enviro Group member was right to flag up that had the woodland gone up it would have called into question what would happen to the nearby petrol station.

With the Beautiful Fife judging not that far away the time is ehre whereby the community should be pulling together to ensure that Cowdenbeath has a really good chance of gaining an advanced award this year rather than the silver that the last two years have brought.

Cowdenbeath should indeed be up there challenging for the gold award and that could be achieved if everyone was pulling in the same direction.

All the good work of the Environment Group can be put into the bin by a couple of silly pieces of vandalism.

So hopefully the people who have caused the recent problems will now help the cause rather than try to sink it.
