THE changes in the approach of the two local musical associations in 2016 has proved to be a real success for them.

Kelty had a series of packed houses for Sunshine on Leith and for 9 to 5 The Musical the Lochgelly association had great audiences.

Now the two Musicals have to look ahead and make choices for the future and the respective committees will want to get it right.

The 'new' style shows definitely were a boost to both associations but speaking to cast members there is a strong feeling that the more traditional shows definitely have a place in the future of both organisations.

Perhaps the way ahead will be to alternate the 'new' and the 'traditional' and hopefully the people who maybe went along to both recent productions will have so much enjoyed them that they will want to go again next year.

Financially it is now easy to put on 'new' shows annually so there will have to be some sort of middle road for the way ahead.

Without doubt they want to keep up the momentum but getting a balance is crucial for a number of reasons.
