The Cowdenbeath Environment Group have been shocked at wanton damage to Dalbeath Marsh and the community woodland along the Crossgates road. We went to Cowdenbeath to ask whether people should be supporting the ventures which make the town look nice rather than ruining the good work of volunteers.

"Of course people need to take pride in their town. I'm not from Cowdenbeath but I work here and it's a shame to see things like that happen when people have put the effort in." Janette Whitehead, 60, Ballingry.

"People should support it because volunteers have done a lot of work. For people to vandalise and do things like that is a shame." Kenneth Morrison, 71, Cowdenbeath.

"Why make the effort if it's going to get vandalised? It's soul destroying that people have given up their own time to do something for the community and it's been wasted." Sam Steward, 71, Cowdenbeath.

"I'm aware of it because I go out with my daughter cycling. You even get it at the parks – broken bottles and dog poo. It makes you not want to walk there. People should just put it in the bucket." Elizabeth Bryson, 47, Cowdenbeath.
