THE European Union Referendum has been left on the backburner in Scotland with the heavy canvassing that has being going on for the Scottish Parliamentary elections.

But the decision whether the UK stays in the EU will be one which will come up very quickly after the May 5 poll.

Do you think people will still come out in big numbers to vote on June 23 on what is a very important issue?

That was the question reporter Nicola Scrimgeour put to people in Cowdenbeath on Thursday.

"I would say so. I'm planning on voting in both and I would think it's an important issue for everybody." James Park, 73, Hill of Beath.

"In the last Referendum pretty much everyone turned out so I think it will be the same. It's a big issue and you can't say anything about the outcome if you don't vote!" Len King, 71, Cowdenbeath.

"I think there's a wee lack of understanding with people losing the point that they need to vote in or out. It's definitely important to fight for your vote and use it." Elizabeth Lees, 67, Cowdenbeath.

"

It's a big issue and I'm going to be voting in both. I always vote and you can't complain about what happens if you don't vote." Susan Honeyman, 56, Ballingry.
