COWDENBEATH will be hoping its is third time lucky when they take on Clyde at Central Park in the New Year game this Saturday.

The Fifers have been victims of the freeze over the past fortnight and have even found training difficult as the snow and ice has struck.

After the Arbroath game being victim of overnight frost it was heavy snow which counted out last weekend's scheduled Barrs Irn Bru Second Division clash with Alloa Athletic.

There is hope that the conditions will be kinder this week as Cowden try to get their season back on the rails.

Said manager Danny Lennon. "The weather has been pretty impossible over the last week or so with snow and ice very much posing problems.

"Our pitch was covered by several inches of snow just before Christmas and it is taking time to recover.

"Hopefully the weather will be kinder in the run-up to Saturday as we are desperate to get back into action.

"Clyde have given us two tough games this season so far and we will have to be at our best to win this weekend."

The one plus from the inactivity of recent weeks has been the fact that the injury problems which were part of the picture at the start of the month are clearing.
