CENTRAL Fife has been issued a yellow alert for snow set to hit the area over the next two days.

The Met Office issued the weather warning, which urges people to be aware of the disruption that could be caused by the snow storms. Strong, gusty winds could see drifting and temporary blizzards over high ground, and temperatures are set to drop to -2°C.

Police are warning to prepare for disruption to travel, with the worst of the weather expected later this evening and tomorrow morning.

Chief inspector Louise Blakelock, Road Policing, said, "There is a risk of localised disruption to travel likely throughout tomorrow and Thursday and we would ask motorists to take precautions before they set off.

“If you are travelling you should ensure that you and your vehicle are adequately prepared for the conditions. Make sure you have sufficient fuel and supplies such as warm clothing, food and water in the event you are delayed for several hours. Charge your mobile phone and plan your route as well as alternative routes.”
